Reminders from your local FSA!



Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) General Signup 49  
Sign-up has started for general CRP sign-up.  The sign-up will run from December 2, 2015 through February 26, 2016.  Land that is not currently enrolled in CRP may be offered for enrollment during CRP signup 49.  Accepted contracts will become effective on October 1, 2016.  Curry county has a very limited amount of acreage that may be accepted during this sign-up.  If you are interested in applying, please contact the County office at 575-762-4769.

2016 Agricultural Risk Coverage/Price Loss Coverage Program

Enrollment has started for the 2016 ARCPLC program.  The enrollment period will run from December 2, 2015 through August 1, 2016.  The 2014 Farm Bill authorized this new safety net approach for farm commodities.  Elections for program participation have already been made; however, there is an annual enrollment to participate in the program that was selected.


2016 Acreage Reporting Dates
In order to comply with FSA program eligibility requirements, all producers are encouraged to visit the Curry County FSA office to file an accurate crop certification report by the applicable deadline.

The following acreage reporting dates are applicable for Curry County for 2016:

December 15, 2015:               barley and wheat
May 15, 2016:                         spring seeded crops, pecans, potatoes
July 15, 2016:                         summer crops, corn, cotton, sorghum, peanuts
August 15, 2016:                     dry beans

The following exceptions apply to the above acreage reporting dates:

·         If the crop has not been planted by the above acreage reporting date, then the acreage must be reported no later than 15 calendar days after planting is completed.

·         If a producer acquires additional acreage after the above acreage reporting date, then the acreage must be reported no later than 30 calendars days after purchase or acquiring the lease. Appropriate documentation must be provided to the county office.

·         If a perennial forage crop is reported with the intended use of “cover only,” “green manure,” “left standing,” or “seed,” then the acreage must be reported by July 15th.

Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) policy holders should note that the acreage reporting date for NAP covered crops is the earlier of the dates listed above or 15 calendar days before grazing or harvesting of the crop begins.
